Defying classification
Impressed by Brancusi's work, this Italian painter/sculptor finally stripped himself of his first modernist and secessionist influences to recreate a unique and unclassifiable style in which sculpture was decisive even for his pictorial work. His interest in primitivism, as well as the schematization and simplification of image and color, left us with a work of languid, melodious sensuality, of a deep and elegant modernity.
